The Analogue Reader: Awesome Vintage Photos of Librarians

Whether you've always wanted to find out what libraries and librarians of ages past looked like, or you simply find yourself in awe looking at photos of interesting libraries (and librarians), I'm sure you're going to enjoy my offering for this installment of The Analogue Reader!

Fellow bibliophiles, it’s time to spill: we all have felt that desire to be a librarian at some point in our book-loving lives, or at least try it for a day…right? Okay, let me be the first to raise my hand and say yes — and I still have that on my “Try Everything Once” list.

Not everyone pays a visit to libraries after finally finishing and graduating from school, and on an even a sadder note, many opt to just download eBooks instead of building their own libraries at home. However, the fact remains that libraries have been and will always be fascinating places, and the sight of books by the hundreds all neatly stowed in shelves will always have ardent bibliophiles gawking at them.

I come bearing proof to this enduring and endearing truth. A couple of weeks ago, Flavorwire put together a beautiful gallery of vintage photos showing librarians of the yester-years simply being their nerdy awesome selves. Let me show you some of them — maybe they’d convince you to join me in dreaming of the days we’d be flanked by voluminous books and catalogues from all directions.

My future husband is going into library sciences to become a librarian. I kinda wish I could go back to school to get a library sciences degree. XD Alas, I only have a BA in creative writing...perhaps that's as close as I get to it. XD
