Never Miss a Moment: Take Your Camera Everywhere You Go

There's a reason why we lomographers live by the Golden Rule which says, "Take your camera everywhere you go." We never want to miss a picture-perfect moment, right?

Kodak may well be one of the earliest inspirations of the lomography subculture with some of their taglines and slogans. The most popular of these would be the “Kodak moment,” pertaining to snapshot photography for capturing memorable moments as quickly and spontaneously as possible. But, there’s also Kodak as you go and All outdoors invites your Kodak. from as far back as the 1910s and 1920s, suggesting that the idea of always having a camera ready to capture a moment as it happens is never the monopoly of digital technology.

It may be easier and more convenient to just lug around a digital compact or smartphone, like most people do these days. However, you will soon realize that you’re not like most people—you prefer to live, breathe, and shoot in film, without a care about the stereotype that comes with it. It’s an addiction—one of the best kinds there is, actually—and you simply can’t stop. You will need your camera close to you, so that you would never miss a crucial moment, always ready to snap at that “decisive moment” you learned from Henri Cartier-Bresson.

The moment you realize all these things is that point where Take your camera everywhere you go has become your way of life. Which camera depends on your needs and wants — the Lomo LC-A+ for classic compact shooting, the Diana F+ or Holga for quick medium format snaps, or even the Instax Mini for instant analogue gratification.

So, fellow lomographers, let’s have a discussion running here — which is your go-to camera that you bring everywhere to make sure that you never miss a moment? Tell us about it with a comment below!

I generally have an LCA+ with me, loaded with Ilford HP5+ or Arista 400 B&W. Sometimes it's Lomo 400 color print film or Fuji Xtra 400. I have a bunch of Fuji Velvia 50 and Astia 100 to shoot also.

I usually got 2 cameras with me, first a reflex camera and a viewfinder camera like the Smena 8M, L-CA, or the Beltica Vebur.
Today i got my first rangefinder camera and i actually loaded it. I can´t wait to see the results.
