It's part of a lomographer's life to always have a camera in the bag, ready for those spontaneous photo ops the days may bring. But, apparently, Kodak has been advocating this way of life since its earliest days. In this installment of Vintage Camera Ads, we'll take you down the memory lane once more, into perhaps the very first times photographers were advised to take their cameras wherever they go.
There’s no doubt that Eastman Kodak will forever be remembered as a photography pioneer, but its legacy certainly involves more than that. Aside from its line of films and cameras, part of the company’s heritage are the countless creative advertisements with catchy taglines and slogans that they published through the years. From the early ones like “If it isn’t an Eastman, it isn’t a Kodak,” and “You push the button – we do the rest,” to the more recent “Share Moments. Share Life,” we have all been enticed and encouraged to make Kodak a part of our daily lives.
I’m not sure if you’ve noticed, but there’s another set of slogans from the 1910s and 1920s that is reminiscent of a rule we lomographers live by.
“All outdoors invites your Kodak.”
“Kodak as you go.”
