Newcomer of the Week: F33t135

Usernames in this Community are important. They are our identity, our online names. This week's Newcomer may have a kind of obscure username, slightly registering as a code, but is sure no big deal. For she has amazing Lomographs and an interview we would love to share to all of you!

Coming from the USA, let us welcome Emily or more known in our Community as f33t135. All it took for her to join our analogue loving Community was a link to the Online Shop. Awesome, right? And from there, she has started to welcome and love this “world” we are in!

Name: Emily Buck
Lomography Home: f33t135
Location: Madison, Wisconsin, USA.
Current film cameras: Tower 120 box camera, Holga 135, Lomography Colorsplash, Canon AF35M, Minolta AF-2, and my favorite, a Nikon FM2.

How did you find out about the Community and who/what convinced you to join?

I got an e-mail about the new sale section in the Lomography Shop and I immediately started shopping. To get an even better discount, I realized I could join the Lomography Community. So I did. Little did I know, it was the photo-sharing format I had been looking for.

Any inspirations when it comes to taking film photographs?

That smile people get when they’re giggling. The one that goes to the eyes and lights up their whole face.

Any song or movie you live by?

Dessa is an artist from my hometown, and I’m in love with her. Her song Mineshaft 2 is angry, driving, and lyrically amazing. I always end up contemplating my life and what I’m doing after listening to it.

As you have read the 10 Golden Rules of Lomography, what rule do you apply in your everyday life?

You don’t know beforehand what you captured on film. I like to find fun in the risk and joy in the mystery.

In this digital age, why still film?

I love film for the anticipation. It’s what makes me want to rip open the package of prints the moment they’re in my hands, and it’s what makes each print, each photograph, a labor of love. While digital gives you instant results, I find that film makes you more aware of what exactly you think you’re doing in the shot. And, quite frankly, there are things I can do in analogue that I can’t with digital.

What are you looking forward to in our Community?

I joined the Community to gain inspiration and knowledge. And the abundance of both is exhilarating for a new-bee like me. I can’t wait to use the Tipster articles I’ve read and the never-ending stream of inspiration. Plus the “Huh, that’s interesting,” moments I’ve gotten from the Community are priceless.

Your favorite analogue camera as of the moment? Why?

I’ve been using my new Lomography Colorsplash a lot lately. It’s a fun new toy to surprise my friends with and I’ve gotten numerous looks in public after using the colorful flash. It also produces a look much different from what I usually go for and I’m hoping to expand my comfort zone.

What is the Lomographic camera you’d want to have someday?

Omygosh I’ve been ogling the Belair for the past week. First of all, its looks so cool. Second, I love the idea of shooting with medium format, and the Belair lets you do it in three ways.

Your favorite section or page in our Lomography site?

The Tipster section of the Magazine is my favorite. I love the idea that members of this Community want to share their knowledge with everyone, whether it is complex or basic. I already have a list in my head of everything I want to try.

Share your current favorite Lomograph, could be yours or a friend’s.

I love looking through what alienmeatsack does. He’s always experimenting or testing out new things and new ideas, just in his backyard or where ever he is! Finding constant inspiration and new perspectives in your everyday environment is really inspiring. I think this one was just done in his backyard, and it turned out great!
