Because I wasn't able to go to Chinatown this year for Chinese New Year's, I just rummaged through my old photos from last year's celebration. Have a look!
I’d like to share with you my experience last year during the Chinese New Year celebrations.
Unfortunately, I didn’t get to go to Chinatown this year to photograph the celebrations for Chinese New Year due to family commitments. But at least I have last year’s photographs to remind me!
It was my first time to meet fellow lomographers in the city. My boyfriend and I tagged along with the Shutter Revolution peeps for this Chinatown lomowalk.
Before we met up with the group, we happened to pass by a temple and took a peek inside. Took some shots of the statues and the people praying and lighting candles.
Outside, a sea of people wearing red shirts greeted us at every turn. Vendors selling good luck charms and tikoy or glutinous rice cakes left and right. And of course, enthusiastic drummers banging their instruments loudly as the dragon dances along to the beat. We also saw firebreathers showing off their skills!
Hopefully, I can make it back for next year’s celebration!
