Lomography UK is very excited to introduce a monthly feature by the amazing The Line of Best Fit online music magazine with tracks that we know you'll love. Have a look at the first of many exciting playlists to come.
This year’s been a great for new music so far and we’ve had our busiest two months ever at Best Fit.
The standout track for most these last weeks, was AlunaGeorge’s collaboration with Disclosure. The UK duo are having the best start ever to 2013, getting a BBC Sound of 2013 nomination and ‘White Noise’ went viral pretty quickly – it was all that the blogs were talking about for 24 hours in mid-January. A month later, we’re still obsessing over it and they just put out the video to match.
Ditto, Mikky Ekko’s ‘Pull Me Down’. He’s finally getting a crazy amount of column inches following the release the duet with Rihanna (‘Stay’) and although ‘Pull Me Down’ first came out last year, it’s being pushed again with some quality remixes alongside it. There’s a great video for that too and he’s a charming chap on Twitter to follow, with the makings of a credible, proper pop star.
Back on UK soil, Manchester’s The 1975 continue their home city’s reputation for producing quality music that crosses genres. A lot of people think they’re going to be really big this year and ‘Head.Cars.Bending’ is a really strong track.
Denmark’s MO is one of this year’s crop of Scandinavians pop stars we’re most excited about (along with Sweden’s Faye, who put a single out on our Best Fit Recordings label last year). She’s been touted as the new Grimes but there’s much more heart and soul in her sound even though it touches on the obvious set of urban and underground references.
Finally, we thought it would be cool to start our first playlist for Lomography off with a tribute to Fleetwood Mac. We’re all massive fans at the site and really excited about their return to live shows this year. Selebrities’ cover of Everywhere – which they dropped on Valentine’s Day – is as swoony and heartfelt as the original with some neat updating.
