Little Drawings on Film Burned Photos

At the beginning of every roll, you take that first test shot to make sure that the film is properly fed into the camera. Most of the time, the first frame turns out to be overexposed nothingness. Sometimes, it's a significantly light burned photo that leaves you thinking of "what might have been."

This is the medium that Turkish architecture student Dilşad Aladağ chooses to work on. With half a blank canvas to work with, she fills in the missing parts of the photo with simple sketches based on memory or fiction. Part of the series little drawings, the results turn out to be charmingly nostalgic imagery with some of its mysteries unfolded.

It’s definitely some inspiring work and I’m sure Lomographers are eager to try their hand at this kind of mixed media art. I myself have several first shots with film burns but, unfortunately, I was not blessed with sketching skills and can only draw stick people so my light leaked photos will probably stay blank. But we’d love to see your illustrations or interpretations of “little drawings” so get inspired and show us what you’ve got in the comments below!
