My Favorite Perfect Combinations

Sometimes, whilst taking a picture you get a feeling, a rush of adrenaline telling you, "Yes, that is what I was looking for in my picture." Then, you press the shutter. Well, when I combine a specific camera with a specific film, I have the exact same feeling.

Some people like to combine wine with certain dishes, such as white wine with fish or seafood. Well, to me, analogue photography is pretty much the same. I tend to mix my Lomo LC-A+ with slide films to create powerful “vintage” photography, thanks to the vignette effect provided with the Minitar 32mm lens.

Furthermore, with the LC-A+, I can create exposures which I think work best with slide films. The Agfa CT Precisa 100 is my favorite slide film to use with my LC-A+. I find it the perfect combination because I always get stunning contrast and blue/green colors. Combined with the vignette effect, it gives a whole other aspect to my pictures.

Also, they are much easier to use at night then the average color negative film.

On the other hand, with color negatives and black & white films, I tend to cherish the use of my Canon AE-1 because I usually get some clearer photos with it. It really depends on the film I choose. I really like to take macro photography with black and white film such as the Kodak BW400CN or color negative such as the Agfa Propack 200.

Both films give great results especially the Afga Propack. Combined with the 50mm lens on my Canon AE-1, it captures extremely well the light and the details. There isn’t much grain which is great and there is a dreamy effect thanks to the light the film captures.

I do sometimes take slide film with my Canon AE-1 but the contrast isn’t as strong with it. And with my LC-A+, I tend to ruin my color negatives because I think to much about the effect slide film gives.
Anyhow, I prefer to take slides pictures with my Lomo LC-A+ because I know that my photos are going to be great each time.

The Lomo LC-A+ is known worldwide for its amazing features: automatic exposure, extended ISO range, and multiple and long exposure capabilities. Get your own Lomo LC-A+ now!

Is the vignette stronger with the LCA+? I have an older, export Russian LCA from the late '90's, and it vignettes only very slightly.

The vignette effect really depends on the lights, the more there is light the less the vignette effect will appear.
