Perfect Combination: Olympus OM4 and Fuji Neopan 400

I'm an absolute fan of both my precious Olympus OM4 SLR camera and the Fuji Neopan 400 black and white emulsion. Learn why they become my perfect combination for photography in this post!.

My favorite camera is my little Olympus OM4: reliable and of high quality, it fits all my photographic needs. My lens collection is always growing with good objectives sometimes not as cheap as I would like but, they give me lots of fun.

One of the problems when you have a high end camera equipment is finding the right film that takes profit of the camera qualities. You have to be aware that some emulsions won’t give you that. In this scenario, professional oriented film emulsions are the perfect choice.

So, what makes Fuji Neopan 400 the perfect partner for my camera? It’s versatile as a 400 ISO film. It can be pushed to 800 ISO or down to 200 or even 100. The film mask seems engineered to be scanned, giving you much better results than the pinkish Kodak T-Max. But the two qualities that I appreciate the most are its gray tone range and beautiful grain.

Both camera and film seem to be made one for the other. You need a good camera with a good lens and appropriate light-metering to benefit from the tonal range and definition that brings that film.

I love the results of this combination, with portrait photography:

great article. seems like a good film - I'm normally a stickler for ilford, but I could give this a try.
