All it took was one epic shot from the Diana Mini for him to be enthralled in analogue photography which eventually led to joining the Lomographic Community!
These are just some fun chances that could change random lives for a lifetime and I suppose it did change this week’s Lomography newcomer! Awesome story, right? Well then let’s read more about it! Let us welcome to this Community, LomoHome wafflesaurus!

Current film camera(s): Canon AE-1 and a Diana Mini
How did you find out about the Community and who/what convinced you to join?
A friend of mine owns a Diana F+. I was not aware of it until she brought her Diana F+ with her one day. After taking a picture using it, I got really excited because it felt so good even if it means that the “special” film, the developing, and the scanning as too expensive, or at least too much effort in order to take some simple pictures. Fortunately, I couldn’t get the idea of shooting analogue out of my head, and soon I remembered my old XA2 sleeping in the closet. I had always thought it was broken, but it seemed to work! Unfortunately though, the advance didn’t work properly and as I got the roll back from the lab there were only three pictures on it. Yep, my XA2 was broken. Sad, but it was enough to get me hooked! The internet did the rest and guided me to the Lomography website. After weeks of studying the site, I bought the Diana Mini and immediately wanted to join the Community because I could imagine how much fun it would be to show my pictures to everyone. And yes, my expectations got fulfilled! It is fun!
Is there anyone in the Lomographic Society you look up to? If yes, who is him/her and why?’
There are so many good Lomographers out there. It would be unfair to mention one by name because there are always others who give me inspiration in a different way. You can’t compare them and say that one is better than the other.
As you have read the 10 Golden Rules of Lomography, what rule do you apply in your everyday life?
It might be “Don’t think. Just shoot!” which doesn’t mean that I don’t think about how I would like the shot to look like. To me, this rule means “Be curious, be adventurous – simply try things out."
In this digital age, why still film?
A while ago, i heard someone saying “No one can deny the delicious feeling of loading a camera with film and rewinding it after you finished the roll” ;) But even more, I like the experimental aspect of film. Redscale it, do multiple exposures or cross it… there are so many ways to make your film look completely different! And often you don’t need many more things than you have got at home already.
What are you looking forward to in our Community?
Hmmm… To share my pictures and communicate with other people from all around the world! Because to me, this website is like a tiny window, making it possible to catch a glimpse of foreign countries and cultures from far far away.
Your favorite analogue camera as of the moment? Why?
Tough question… Well, I really love both of my cameras! I don’t want to choose. On the one hand I like my Diana Mini a lot. The square, grainy pictures look so warm and nice — kind of dream-like. I love it! On the other hand my Canon AE-1 is really trusty and has a much sharper lens. I would rather say something like: “For every job [there is a] matching camera!” ;)
What is the Lomographic camera you’d want to have someday?
That’s easy. For sure I’d want to get a LC-A+ as soon as possible. Why? Because it’s THE camera. It combines the coolest features of my other two cameras: it’s small, has a sharp glass-lens, and is slightly vignetting. What do you need more? :D
[Note: David finally got his dream LC-A+ camera! Haha. Check out the photos below.]
Share your current favorite Lomograph (could be yours or a friend’s) and explain why it is your favorite.
I see hundreds of wonderful Lomographs every day. And I always wish I would be the one who had shot them. Haha! Therefore I really can’t tell which one is my favourite. But if I had to choose one from my own shots, I would say that this one is my current favourite:
