Year 2012 was a special year to me. Many things happened in that year that brought me so much happiness and unforgettable memories. I feel glad that I found analogue photography as a hobby. It brightened up my life and brought me so much surprise within this past few years, especially in 2012.
I would like to say that interest points you in the right direction but passion will propel you. Interest allows tolerance of laziness and excuses, thus we stop when we feel lazy, we change when we fail, then we blame ourselves and give up. But, passion is just like a magical engine that drives you all the way even when you fall, and when you fail and see no way, you will continue doing it. As a great quote by T. Alan Armstrong goes, “Find your passion, whatever it may be. Become it, let it become you and you will find great things happen FOR you, TO you and BECAUSE of you.”
I am not a professional; I started analogue photography with interest and curiosity. I learned it, experienced it, and practiced it. Day by day, great things came to me surprisingly. I won my first photography competition in my life through Lomography. In the year 2012, I received my first prize: La Sardina Seoul Edition from Lomography. Let’s take a look at my great 2012 now:
On January 1st 2012, I visited Penang Island with my boyfriend (husband now) and his family members. This time, we took the ferry from Butterworth to Penang Island instead of driving through the Penang bridge. We went to Kek Lok Si temple, G-hotel, and Hard Rock hotel. We tasted a lots of famous local foods such as Laksa and Cendol.
Chinese New Year fell on January as well. It’s a big day for the Chinese. These days, we gather with family and friends for a yearly and important reunion session.
Before the Chinese New Year ended, I visited Malacca with my sisters and aunt who came back from Hong Kong. Malacca was very crowded and we had to line up for a long queue for a meal.
First overseas company trip in my life. I had joined a new company on October 2011 and I went to their company trip to Taiwan with on February.
The Registry of Marriage of Wyvern and I. My elder sister and her family came back from Kuantan and my elder brother, my sister-in-law and younger sister came back to Kuala Lumpur for this day. It was so touching and I was happy that all of them attended my R.O.M day.
The Hot Air Balloon Festival 2012 was held at Putrajaya. The day was crowded, as has been the past few years.
I attended Bersih 3.0 to advocate for clean, free, and fair electoral system.
I had a short break at Hat Yai, Thailand. The people there are really friendly.
My first film swap project. Thanks to boobert for inviting me for this activity.
I tested Diana Mini En Rose when I came back to my hometown. My nephews were very excited about this lovely camera as well. Both of them were able to handle it after my very rough and fast explanation.
I tested the Sprocket Rocket camera.
My younger sister and sister-in-law took pre-wedding photos for us, just for fun.
Celebrating my niece’s 1-year-old birthday!
It’s a month full of celebrations for me. My wedding day fell on November, and after that, we went to Bali for the honeymoon. It was my birthday month as well!
Merry Christmas! Testing DIY black card and shoot on Christmas lighting.
Happy New Year 2013 to everyone. LOVE LOMO!
