UK Cityslicker Marianne: My Aspirations for 2013

Last month, Lomography asked the Cityslickers what their goals are for the year 2013. Read how Lomography is helping Marianne achieve her aspirations for 2013!

Last month’s Cityslicker task was an appropriate one for me, because my aspirations for 2013 are entwined with being a Lomography UK Cityslicker! Early last year, Lomography got me a pass to go to Bestival and photograph from the press photo pit.

It was one of the most excitingly crazy and novel experiences of my life, as my day job is only being a psychology student! The headliners included Stevie Wonder and Florence + The Machine, and it was a real once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be able to photograph such big acts. Whilst I was there, I also took along my digital cameras and to make the most of the opportunity, I took some digital photographs as well. Then, thanks to one of my digital shots from Bestival, I won a competition to photograph P!nk at the Capital FM Jingle Bell Ball.

Because of these experiences, I’m now considering a career in event photography, (once I’ve finished my studies of course!) and I wouldn’t have had those opportunities if I wasn’t a Lomography UK Cityslicker! Next year, I’m hoping to go to more music events with Lomography’s help, to both provide exciting reviews for Lomography and build up my portfolio.

Furthermore, thanks to one of my friends mentioning that I’m a Lomography Cityslicker, another friend asked me if I photographed weddings. I finally had the confidence to give it a shot, and since then, I haven’t looked back! I’ve done a few weddings this year and I’m hoping to continue shooting weddings in 2013. My dream would be to shoot a wedding entirely on Lomography cameras, and I’d love to offer a bespoke Lomo wedding photography service. Imagine the bouquet toss on the Actionsampler, or the couple portraits on the Bel-Air!

So, my aspiration for 2013 is to continue working towards becoming a photographer, and it all started with Lomography, so thank you Lomography! (To follow UK Cityslicker Marianne’s aspirations, see her work here).
