Looking back on this year I know I will not remember it by the month, rather by the place that I was. I was extremely lucky this year to start the year where I come from in Australia, finish it in London, Canada where I now call home and visit a bunch of places in between.
I started the year off with a bang at Bondi Beach for a concert and the next day we explored a little of the city with a bunch of my friends on a lovely summers day. Later in January, right around Australia Day so therefore Australian Open time, my boyfriend and I headed to Melbourne) for the tennis and explored the city. I used my new LC-A+ a lot during this trip.
February until mid April kind of all melts in together as I was just living and working back where I am from in Australia on the NSW Central Coast, we had some fun outings with friends and I used my ActionSampler when we went quad biking I just realized I haven’t used it since, it’s funny how you can forget about cameras like that! Also, there was Valentine’s Day where we had a lovely picnic on the beach.
April through to August was spent in my boyfriend’s home town of Halifax, on the east coast of Canada. There were many highlights over the summer including road trip to Cape Breton and the Cabot trail attending many parades, Peggy’s cove, and going to a wildlife park.
September, we moved halfway across the country from Halifax to London, Ontario as my boyfriend had got into a PHD program. Three weeks of the month though were spent in the United Kingdom and we did a little bit of a mini Euro-Trip as he had never been before where we went to Germany (mainly for Photokina) and to Paris. The reason for the visit was because my cousin was getting married and I was the photographer.
October was spend in little London which was lovely with the changing colors of fall, my birthday, Halloween, and thanksgiving.
The month of November was spent back in Australia as the stars aligned and it was my Mum’s 60th birthday, my step-sister had her 7th baby (!) and one of my best friends got married. I packed in a lot of other fun times around these three big events and I was extremely happy to be reunited with a few cameras I had left at my mums place.
December has had me in hibernation from the cold Canadian winter but I have just bought a new scanner so I’ve been having fun scanning film with that and finishing up all the rolls of film I started while I was in Australia. I’ve been working on taking some bokeh shots with the Christmas lights and also looking forward to seeing what Lomo-surprises I have in my stocking!
