Book Covers in Lomographs: The Wild Palms of William Faulkner

Two lomographs that can be used as book covers, in this case of William Faulkner's The Wild Palms. Since that novel is his masterpiece and the lomographs show the spirit of the stories in it.

About a month ago when I saw a lomograph of my friend Oriana I thought it could be suitable as a book cover of William Faulkner’s The Wild Palms, I couldn’t leave that idea in my mind and I wrote her a comment right away. She told me something like «You’re always setting up things.» But I thought she was the one who actually had built it, I only made the link and no more.

First edition cover.

Perhaps I’m filled with analogies, but I found it natural to associate the lomograph of Oriana to that novel, beyond that there are palms in it. Also exists a duality between the perverse being of the palms and a picture of a music festival, which remains rather hidden. Just as Faulkner’s novel is a concoction of two stories.

Both stories tell us about a close relationship between a man and a woman, exploring the gloom of human nature but also the light to the start of things. I think my lomograph below shows all of that and therefore could also work as a book cover.
