Lomo Milestones: My Firsts!

When I saw the Requested Posts for November, I spotted "Your Lomo Milestones!" Then, I thought, "Why not write about them?" So here, I tried to remember all my firsts in Lomography. It's quite a hard job to remember all of them but for all of you die-hard analogue photography people, I will remember them! I just love to share some analogue love from time to time. As I always say, "Sharing is Caring." So here it goes, adi_totp's Lomo Milestones!

My first camera was the Fisheye No.2!

First lomograph and first MX try

So the photo above is my first lomograph of many and my first try do some MX action! This was 5 years ago!

Sunflower!

To be honest, that lomograph was my first time using Black and White film! Oh my!

Diana’s Dream

All of you have the Fisheye No.2 camera must know this technique if you read the manual instruction poster. Yes! That’s my first time using Diana’s Dream technique!

Holga 70mm

This is quite funny, after I got my second lomographic camera which is a Holga. After a few rolls, I was so so curious about Holga 70mm. After searching in the internet, I finally found the tips and applied it right away! I know I’m not the first person to try this amazing modification, I saw it the first time in the Holga Book! If I’m not wrong I think saw some great Holga 70mm shots from Adam Scott. Very inspiring!
Why is funny? this is my first and last time trying Holga 70mm!

First time using Slide Film!

Do you remember your first time using that magical slide film? I remember!

I was given a slide by a friend because he got one from his old brother but he didn’t need the film anymore. So lucky me! My first slide film was Kodak Elitechrome Extra Color ASA 100 or easy to say the famous Kodak EBX!

It’s really fascinating to see the result when I got back home from the photo lab. I was like “WOW!!!” I just shot random things but how could one forget his or her slide film experience? It’s a feeling that cannot be replaced!

1st LHOTD on early 2008

One day I was walking with my friend then my phone buzzed. After checking who texted me, the message said, “Adi, Congrats LHOTD!!” I said to myself, “Damn! What the hell is LHOTD?!!” and I replied soon after, “What is LHOTD,bro?!” Then he replied quickly “LOMOHOME OF THE DAY!! CONGRATS!”. Woah… I remember that day was Friday and when I got back home, I checked the old Lomography website (I miss the old Lomography website! So much history there!). BOOM! There’s my photo on the front page of the website. The fishes on the aquarium! I also remember everybody congratulating me when I opened my old Lomohome. “Congrats adi_totp!” I already fell in love with Lomography at that time and I immediately fell in love with the community itself—the people! I will always remember that day.

My first film swap was with…myself! At that time I couldn’t find any doubles partner so the easiest and simplest way to do it was doing doubles with myself! I shot my friends at daytime on the first layer and on the second layer I shot my friends at night time using flash. Voila! There’s my first film swap! When I think of film swaps, I always remember this! It’s my milestone on doing doubles! Now, I feel really lucky I could do film swap with talented lomographers in the community. I feel so grateful! So thank you to all my double partners who are willing to do film swap with me. Thank you!

The photo above is small because I can’t find the hi-res photos on my archive but yes that was my first Lomo Outing with Bandung lomographers! It was so much fun, really! It was my first of many lomo outing with Bandung lomographers. I never get bored to do Lomo Outing even though we do the outing with just three or four people. The excitement of walking and shooting in the streets of Bandung always thrills me until now. True story!

First shot using the Horizon Perfekt

That’s true! The lomograph above is the first shot from Horizon Perfekt and there’s me on it. I don’t remember who took this photo but for sure it’s a friend of mine. Talking about Horizon Perfekt, I first did a Lomo Session with this camera. One day, my friend Raffi asked me to shoot his charming Vespa. I said yes. So here’s my first Lomo Session with Raffi and his Vespa!

Oh there are so many firsts to mention! But this time, I only remember these firsts and maybe next time I will tell about the other firsts! In the meantime, let me think about them!

LOMO ON!

First time using Fuji Sensia 100

PS. That’s the first time I used Fuji Sensia 100! Now I remember again!
