Most people would probably want their family portraits looking formal and elegant, but a Japanese photographer opted to take fun and casual photos of his family instead. Take a look at Akihiro Furuta's beautiful and heartwarming photos after the jump!
I believe that family portraits should not only be something to put on display in the house or kept in albums, but rather, something that brings smiles and tells something about the family. One look at the work of Japanese photographer Akihiro Furuta certainly meets both criterion. Take a look:
Furuta makes his family portraits fun, interesting, and heartwarming with all those silly props, candid poses, natural smiles, and informal shooting locations. No fancy clothes, no make-up, no elaborate studio set-up. If those beautiful photos (taken using a Rolleiflex medium format camera) do not make you smile, you certainly have a heart of stone. Oh, and that adorable dog—it’s definitely part of his family.
You can see more of his beautiful family portraits in this gallery called Smile, Cry, Love.
