As an intern at Lomography's HQ, I was kept busy with a number of product launches. You've seen the new stuff. There was the Fisheye Baby Bauhaus, the Maps Edition Cameras and the Diana Baby 110. I haven't even memorized all of the old products that Lomography has, but I already have others to add to the list! But there is one product that I believe every Lomographer should buy.
The Lomo Kikuyu Book. Yes, I believe that anybody who is able to buy a Lomo camera should be able to spend another $5 to donate to the needy. You don’t have to wait until the holidays to be in a giving mood. Just drop the Lomo Kikuyu Book in your shopping cart next time you make an online order!
Not familiar with the Lomo Kikuyu Project? Let me tell you all about it, so that you know where your $5 will go to. Lomography and Light for the World have joined forces to help the people of the Kikuyu tribe in Kenya. We want to help train and educate future ophthalmologists to fight the crippling effects of cataracts and poor eye care, and your donation can help.
Light for the World is working towards a brighter future for the people of Kenya. The program not only educates and trains professional eye doctors; it helps train teachers to spot early onset eye problems in children and adults.
They say, “Give a man a fish and he eats for a day, teach a man to fish and he eats for a lifetime”. Lomography and the international organization Light for the World are looking to do just that, and now, it’s time to get your hands on the Lomo Kikuyu Book and give back to a needy community. Filled with lomographs taken by the Lomography team as well as doctors and patients from Kikuyu, and featuring Lomowalls specially made for the print edition, the Kikuyu Book is a wonderful addition to your library.
How to Donate
Helping is easy! For every purchase you make in the Lomography Online Shop you will be able to add the LomoKikuyu Book to your cart for just 5 EUR/USD. These 5 EUR/USD will be sent to Light for the World for the Lomography/Light for the World Cooperation.
Due to the current catastrophic droughts in East Africa, Lomography will be matching your 5 EUR/USD donation to help fight the famine. Matching donations will be sent to International Committee of the Red Cross, making your donation work two-fold!
We have raised quite a sum of money for the project, but with the number of Lomographers out there, I’m sure we can reach and even higher number! Here’s my call out for all the Lomographers out there to support the Lomo Kikuyu Project!
Lomo Kikuyu It’s good to see (again). Every Lomographer along with their friends and acquaintances worldwide is being appealed to donate 30 Euros/30 American dollars to save a person’s eyesight. Get the chance to do this by getting your own Lomo Kikuyu Book now.
