Lomography

Mario aka goonies from Afragola (Naples), Italy, couldn't decided which of his Lomography cameras he prefers, so he picked two and let us know why he's so in love with each of them.

I’ve been asked to speak about my favorite Lomography camera. Well, this is a really tough task for me: the more I think about it, the more I realize that choosing just one camera for me is like asking a child “Who do you like more, your mum or your dad?”. The child, of course, will reply both. So, since I consider myself still a child, I will choose two Lomo cameras I couldn’t live without.

Let me start with the Lomo LC-A + RL. I’ve been active in the Lomography community for two years now, but when I was a beginner I used to spend hours and hours looking at users’ albums…once I stumbled upon superlighter and his pictures and I immediately realized that sooner or later I needed to own that camera. Well, now Aurelio (superlighter) you know it: it was all your fault!

I truly believe that this is the perfect camera that everyone should have: you just point and shoot without thinking too much, without risking that that precise moment you want to capture flies away. You can use it under any light conditions and its dimensions allow you to take it everywhere you go. I also tend to use this camera for film-swaps with other community members – so I can say that my Lomo LC-A knows most of the Lomographers from all around the world!

The second camera I would like to talk about is the LomoKino. Cinema is my greatest passion and directing a movie has always been one of my dreams. Thanks to Lomography, my dream came true! I would like to thank all my friends and family who acted in my movies: I am actually very proud of my works! I have lots of other projects in mind and I hope to realize them soon. I know it may sound weird, considering how crazy my lomomovies are, but it always takes me a lot of time to shoot them – I have to wait for inspiration and, mostly, for the availability of my friends!

This is just my way to deal with the LomoKino. On the other hand, I’ve seen some great movies shot by other Lomographers – like kathepalacio, weidong, cryboy and dakota – whose work is based on what surrounds them. This camera has really a huge potential, you can shoot an entire movie with it. I would love to lend my LomoKino to Emir Kusturica to see what a real genius could do with it!
