Traveling with the Circus

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to run away and join the circus? Of course not, but wouldn't it be fun to experience it?

For those of you who are fun and colorful, there is one place in Vienna, Austria that you have to stay at, the 25hours Hotel! This hotel is well-known for its affordable rates and eccentric interior design and themes.

For its hotel in the capital city of Austria, the 25hours Hotel has taken from the traditions of the circus institution. Olaf Hajek, a German artist and illustrator turned the inside of the hotel into a circus-themed accommodation with colorful wall murals, depicting classical circus scenes.

It’s also interesting to know that Hajek creates his images in a totally analog way. No, not with a Diana Mini. He paints on cardboard! His paintings are then scanned as a high-resolution file and then printed using an ink jet wall covering.

Check out how Hajek pictured the circus and see his amazingly imaginative illustrations of bearded ladies, clowns, sword-swallowers, fire-breathers and snake charmers. You will want to visit a real circus yourself!

But not to worry, if you’re anywhere near Cologne, Germany sometime in September, you should visit photokina 2012 and find Lomography’s booth. It’s a razzle-dazzle of circus extravaganza there too!
