La Sardina, the perfect party camera to share with friends to capture those happy summer memories. Check out my photos from Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival in Scotland!
Living by the seaside, the La Sardina Capri La Fontelina edition was too tempting for me to resist. It’s the perfect camera for taking to the beach for some summer snaps. I began to get really nervous about taking it anywhere else in case anything would come to harm it, but in the end, I decided to bite the bullet and take my camera off the beach, and to its first-ever music festival. I’m so glad I did!
I like to take my other film cameras to parties with me, but quite often they don’t get treated the way they should (noticeably with my Holga K200NM, because it looks cheap and sturdy.) With this in mind, I was very hesitant about taking my La Sardina out in social situations. I decided to take it to the quirky music festival, Belladrum, in Scotland, as I couldn’t risk leaving it at home and missing capturing all the excitement and fun of the festival – especially with the incredible 89* wide angle lens!
Luckily for me, the weather was stunning all weekend, which meant my La Sardina was convenient and light to carry around with me without the Fritz the Blitz flash attached. Now, if you’re a La Sardina fabric edition owner, you’ll understand my fear of it getting dirty, but after a few shots (both photos and alcohol, of course!) my fears thankfully disappeared and I took it out of the campsite and around the festival itself. This year’s theme for the festival was “Royalty” so I was dressed as a jester. The colorful Capri edition camera clashed perfectly with my outfit making it really stand out.
I found that as the La Sardina is a pretty and unusual-looking camera, everyone wanted to play with it, which made it a really good social focal point. Everyone wanted a shot and as the camera was being passed around, it was easy to see how much fun people were having with it – even the boys who initially didn’t believe the camera was real were desperate for a shot! (No offense to the Holga, but the same excitement was lost on my K200NM at parties.) Everyone was trying out multiple exposure shots of each other and I was glad I’d taken a lot of extra film with me. Some people just couldn’t comprehend that we couldn’t see the pictures until they were developed, meaning you didn’t spend very long over meaningless moments such as: “That’s a horrible picture of me, take another one!”
I know that not all the photos are the most clear, but I think that’s part of the fun of Lomography! With thanks to my friends, I’ve got some lovely shots to remind me a fantastic weekend. It’s true what they say about the La Sardina – It really is best served with friends.
