Hello, tell us a bit about yourself and your Lomographic journey.

Hi Lomography Malaysia. I’m from Malacca. My lomographic journey started when my friend introduced me to Lomography. I got attracted and starting googling all the lomography stuff, techniques and tips. Surprisingly, my girlfriend (now my wife) gave me a Fisheye No.2 for my birthday gift. Since then, I started to take pictures wherever I went with my Fisheye. I wonder how all the lomographers can take very, very beautiful sets of pictures. I was so impressed back then. And the Lomography stuff are kinda cute and easy to use.

So is there any local community in Malacca? Or are you part of any Lomography community in Malaysia?

Yes, in Malacca there is a community called AnaloGuerilla founded by group of young men around 2011. And I am part of it and part of Malaysian’s Effekts.

Did you join any outings / workshops / event organize by this community?

Yup, I join Effekts’ outing and events regularly. Normally they do outings/events during the weekend. I used to organize outings for AnaloGuerilla last time but since I committed myself to my job, I rarely join them.

What the best part shooting with a bunch of Lomography enthusiasts?

I can learn how to shoot creatively from them. Plus I can expand and develop fellowship bond among them. And today, my so-called brother in Lomography is Johann Affendy. He is my best buddy eventhough we are rarely meet each other.

And the worst?

I don’t have any bad memories shooting with them.

Do you enjoy shooting alone or do you prefer shooting together with the community?

To be frank, I enjoy shooting alone because I can spend more time with myself, because I want to put soul and feel in capturing moments.

What is the definition of analogue lifestyle to you?

Think, shoot and enjoy your life!

What was the most unforgettable, strangest, funniest, or worst photographic/Lomographic experience that you encountered before?

LOL. I sent my 2 rolls of tri-x to develop and the shop owner scolded me, “it is blank!”

What’s your favorite photo in your collection and why?

I was desperate to take silhouette photos back then. And I was happy with the result.

Were you born in Malacca? Where is your location now?

Yes. I live at Lorong Pandan.

Tell us what do you love the most about Malacca?

The place. Especially Klebang and Tanjung Puteri. Its so inspired to take sunset shot there.

The food! Is there any finger licking good food that you love in Malacca?

I was waiting to answer for this question! I love to eat ikan bakar at Umbai. The ikan bakar is so fresh, juicy and super delicious. Basically, they will serve you ikan bakar with nasi lemak. Other than that, if you thirsty, u can find popular coconut shake at Klebang.

Where would you bring your friend to go when they pay you a visit at Malacca?

Basically, I will bring them to Klebang, Tanjung Puteri and Muara Sg Duyong to see boats, fishermen and fresh fishes they caught from sea. Other than that, I will bring them to A’Famosa and enjoying cendol at Stadhuys. At night, I will take them to boat riding at the middle of the town. The boat will take you from Kg Morten to Banda Hilir, guided with someone that will tell you a bit of Melaka history.

Where do you develop your film at Malacca? Do you have any other recommendation and what are the price and any other specific notes?

Normally, I will send my films to Koh Mei Keng owned by Uncle Koh at Kampung Jawa. The only shop I found that able to do cross-process, 35mm and 120 film. Uncle Koh will charge you RM6 for process and scan for RM10. Apply to slides and negatives.

Thanks for your time! Before we wrap things up, do you mind letting us know which Lomography product is your favorite and why?

LC-A+, I can bring it anywhere and anytime.

The Lomo LC-A+ RL has all the features we know and love, authentic Russian lens, and a back that’s now interchangeable with the Instant Back+. Explore analogue possibilities with the LC-A+ RL!
