The Stories within Pictures #8: The Funniest Airplane

Penny’s first memories of Finland are connected with fun and surprise. It was the first week of January and she was preparing herself for the biggest cold and the largest amount of snow in her life. But what awaited her there was pure surprise.

Ask someone about Finland and what he is expecting to find there in January. The answer would be mostly snow, cold and darkness. However, Penny found there neither snow nor the cold.

She was travelling with one of the nice and comfortable Finnair planes. To her surprise the airplane was fully booked and to her bigger surprise mostly by some seniors travelling by plane for the first time in their entire lives. Everything was amazing for them, stewardesses, the airplane, food, plastic cutlery and the toilet. Simply everything.
There was sitting one senior pair next to Penny, who was entertaining her for the whole flight. It was not her wish to do the eavesdropping but you know it, sometimes you do not have the other choice. And after serving the lunch (chicken salad and some strangely looking buns), the conversation grew more and more interesting and funnier.

“Oh dear, this fish is just wonderful,” said the man and put the piece of chicken in his mouth. “It must be some Finnish speciality. Maybe herring or something. I’ve never eaten such a tasty fish in my life. They just really know how to prepare it.”
The woman was only nodding. After they finished the chicken, the man decided to take all plastic cutlery as souvenirs for their grandchildren and he started asking for them also the other travellers.
“Darling, take also this, I do not know what it is, maybe it’s not even for children.” The woman was holding in her hands the hand refresher in a small square package.
“Isn’t it pepper?”
The woman blushed and put the hand refresher into man’s hands. “I thought that it was a condom.” After saying it she blushed even more and remained silent for a while.

The airplane landed and a surprise was waiting for all the travellers. There was no snow and no frozen feet to the ground, just darkening sky and it was not only 3 o’clock in the afternoon. Snow and frost were about to come in two weeks, together with tons of new friends, stories and falling in love, but that is the other story.

Travelling is always fun. Most of the time it is the people you meet in stations, airports, and small space. Hope to hear of more travel/other stories from you.
