US CitySlicker yankeemiss: Doubling my fun with my two Holgas: 120 CFN and the 120 PAN

The great outdoors, beach and mountains, are only a few miles from my home in Portland, Oregon. Check out some images from this adventure.

I feel so fortunate to live in the Pacific Northwest, not far from the beach or the mountains. Within 90 minutes from my home I can be twinkling my toes in the Pacific Ocean or be pressing the soles of my hiking boots into the July snow on Mt Hood. I’d love to have a little Bambi Airstream travel trailer that I could load with my gear and go back and forth between the two.

My plastic Holga cameras are the perfect choice for these outings. I don’t worry about the salt water spray or blowing sand. I can just wipe them off and keep going. Even if a camera gets ruined I don’t have a lot of money invested. What could be better? I can sit in the sand and have a picnic, watch others play and just enjoy myself making photos.

On this day I could not decide between the smell of the salt air or the smell of the forest’s firs. So I decided to go to both. Double exposures let me revisit the beach and the mountains in one photo. I don’t always know what I’ll get, but that’s just part of the fun.

My Holga 120 PAN lets me see my world from a different perspective. I decided to try something new by turning the camera upside down for the double exposure.

At the end of the day it’s really all about getting outdoors and having some fun and enjoying what nature has to offer. Here in Oregon that’s not hard to do.
