Good Things in Small Packages: Animals

In honor of our own little guys, the Fishe Eye Baby 110 Cameras, we bring you a collection of small but wonderful animals. So, what are the cutest tiniest animals out there? We have a pretty good list, take a look at 12 of the smallest animals and breeds out there!

The smallest Monkey in the world, the Pygmy Marmoset, also known as Dwarf Monkey lives in the rain-forest under stories of Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia. It’s body length measures between 14 and 16 centimeters and it weighs between 120 and 140 grams.

Thumbelina, the world’s smallest horse! Native of Missouri, Thumbelina is only 17.5 inches (44.5 cm) tall and weighs a mere 57 pounds. The average miniature horse weighs 175- 225 pounds, the average horse weighs can weigh 1000 pounds, making Thumbelina a mini mini.

The world’s smallest fish swims in the swamps of Indonesia. All 7.9mm of it, yes, that is millimeters, belongs to the carp family.

Native of Cuba, the Bee Humming Bird or Zunzuncito is the smallest living bird. Weighing a mere 1.6 – 1.9 grams, and only measuring 5-6 cm long, this humming bird is covered with brilliantly colored iridescent feathers.

Not yet confirmed, but Beyonce might be the world’s smallest dog. The smallest of a litter of five, Beyonce is smaller than your iphone, and for more cute and snugly!

Mr. Peebles is the world’s smallest cat, and boy is he cute. The tiny feline weighs in at 3.3lbs that’s a little less that 1.5 kilos! Due to a genetic defect, Mr. Peebles will never grow to full size.

Recently discovered, the worlds smallest frog is so small that it can sit on a dime and have room to spare. The fly-sized frog is only 7mm long and is considered the smallest vertebrae.

Discovered just on an islet just off the coast of Madagascar, the Brookesia Micra is one of the smallest reptiles out there, small enough to balance on the tip of a match!

It’s time to meet the Columbia Basin Pygmy Rabbits, native to a single area of Washington state, these cuties weigh less than a pound in adulthood. Unfortunately, these little guys are extinct in the wild, although have been successfully bred in captivity.

Pets to the stars, bacon to others (not really), Pot Bellied Pigs are the smallest pig breed out there. Not only are they adorable, they are easily house trained.

Dexter, the world’s smallest cow hails from Yorkshire, England. At only 33.5 inches, Dexter is just that much closer to all the tasty grass.

Mary had a little lamb, but we found the smallest breed of sheep. The Miniature Harlequin Sheep produce great wool, have an easy going temperament and make for great lawn mowers.
