Bouncing at the Beach

I'll admit it, I'm not really a beach person. Too much sand...but with a camera in my hand, even I was able to enjoy the seaside!

For as long as I can remember, my family has gone to the same seaside town in spring. In fact, my mom used to come here as a child as well. When I was little, I loved the beach; playing in the sand, building castles, looking for seashells and shark’s teeth. But as I grew older, it lost much of its charm for me. The sand getting everywhere – in my clothes and my food and my books. The cold winds that made me not realize I was getting sunburnt, while at the same time, freezing my toes off. I get bored just lying in the sun like my mom and my nieces.

I don’t really have the patience anymore to search for shark’s teeth like my guy either.

But luckily, I have found something that entertains me immensely at the beach. It’s my cameras! Take the Supersampler. This multi-lens beauty is the perfect beach companion. The bright light at the beach is strong enough for the tiny lenses, and there are lots of kids around willing to jump around, dive after frisbees or beach balls in front of my camera. Colorful sails and kites make for excellent subjects as well.

The bright beach colors and light are also perfect for cross processing. Sand dunes, signs, playing kids, natural abstracts, the beach is a true haven for the lomographer.

You might hesitate to bring your precious babies to the beach: sand and salt are not your camera’s best friends. But go on and live a little. Don’t drop it in the sand or the water (unless you’re a lucky crab or submarine owner) and you’ll be fine.

So next time you go to the beach, don’t forget your camera!

The SuperSampler takes four sequential panoramic shots on a single, action-packed 35mm photo. And now the queen of multilensed cameras has been given a new look by our good friend Dalek. See all SuperSampler colours and designs in our Shop!
