US CitySlicker Azuree: Chicago Y'all!

For their first task, the US CitySlickers will show us around their towns and cities, documenting their experiences in analogue and telling us stories along the way. Let's meet Azuree and learn more about Chicago!

Hello Lomo friends! I’m Azuree and I’m so stoked to be a City Slicker! I’m a girl who has long had an analog heart. I fell in love with Lomography about 12 years ago when a friend of mine gave me an Action Sampler as a present. The simplicity and unpredictability of that little camera won me over after seeing the first roll of film I shot with it. I’ve been hooked ever since. I mostly use my Diana Mini, Holga, Action Sampler and FishEye Lomo Cameras in addition to a slew of other analog cameras. Some of my favorites are my Canon AE, Mamiya Unviersal and SX70!

I live in Chicago with my husband and our two bunnies, Franny & Seymour. Bonus points if you know their namesakes! Christopher and I enjoy taking pictures, making music, thrifting, bike riding and listening to music. I’ve lived in Chicago for 5 years now after moving here from sunny Florida. This city is a photographer’s dreamboat. It has everything from wonderful architecture (Frank Llyod Wright anyone?), great museums, plenty of music venues, bike lanes, some fantastic street art, we’ve got a kind of sort of boardwalk called The Navy Pier, a lake that looks like a beach and sooo many local places to shop, grab some grub and have a few drinks!

Chicago has a wonderful public transportation system which is a great way to get around the city but also to scoop out new places, see street art and to see all the characters that live in this darling city. I always keep a camera handy because you’ll never know what you’ll run into. Like the time I ran into the Chucky Cheese Mouse on the street! We’re also getting our very own Lomography Store in the artsy neighborhood, Wicker Park this Summer! I can’t wait!

Chicago is full of the best old hand written and neon signage which I hope to photograph using one of my fun Lomo cameras this summer on my new bike! Stay tuned! Can’t wait to share my analog adventures with you all!

I hope Seymour doesn't try to commit suicide. Poor mixed up, genius bunny.

@abbsterocity I think so too! Have you been to any of the meetup.com Lomo meet ups yet? Here's a link to the next one: http://www.meetup.com/Lomography-Chicago/events/67288602/?a=ea1_grp&rv=ea1&_af_eid=67288602&_af=event

Sounds awesome! I've been meaning to check out the farmers market every time it comes around but it always slips my mind! I'll try to go to this one though!
