Our Beach Adventures

Shooting on the beach is always fun...the white sand, blue sky, the living sea. I was born near the beach in the southern part of Texas that is often referred to as "The Third Coast". Soon after that, my parents moved us all to Riverside, California and then finally to San Diego, California where I spent most of my childhood.

San Diego is renowned for it’s world-class beaches, in particular La Jolla, which features clean white sand, rocky cliffs, caves, and tide pools. Later we spent some time in San Jose before ending up in Austin, TX which is where I live now.

Occasionally, someone will tell me that they’re going to the beach, and I immediately think that they are going to Galveston or possibly South Padre Island, but they tell me that they are going to one of the many lakes around here. It’s not quite the same thing. Still, the lakes have their own beauty. I’ve had the opportunity to shoot lots of beaches and lakes in California and Texas. Here are some of my favorite shots.

I used to live in San Diego. We lived seven miles inland, but went to the beach often. As a military family, we always lived near the ocean. Nice photos.

Thanks. Yes. There's lots to miss about SD. The beach towns were great.
