Basking in the Sun at Parlee Beach, New Brunswick

I had heard about this beautiful beach for awhile. Sandy beaches are hard to come by in this part of the world so if the opportunity arrises that it is a warm sunny day and you're in the area, I highly recommend heading to this gorgeous little beach in eastern Canada!

Being spoilt all my life living on the east coast of Australia where we have lovely white sandy beaches and warm ocean water, I was pleasantly surprised when I went to Parlee Beach and found real sand! I still wouldn’t have gone swimming as the water was still quite cold, but it definitely wasn’t as cold as other beaches I had been to in the area. The beach is famous for having the warmest salt water north of Virginia. For that reason it is arguably the most popular beach in New Brunswick.

This area seems to be a great vacation spot for families to enjoy a laid back time away from the city. I’m sure it wouldn’t take much getting used to sitting on the beach soaking up the sun, listening to the sea grass whispering in the breeze and building sand castles.

While we were in the area, we checked out the ‘Big Lobster’, had a meal at a lovely cafe on the patio, and grabbed an ice cream to walk down to the beach with. We later saw a seagull devouring what was left of the ice cream. I guess that’s why New Brunswick seagulls are so huge!
