The British epic film Lawrence of Arabia will be featured as one of the restored films in this year’s Cannes Classics programme at the Cannes Film Festival. As a 50th anniversary celebration of Sony-Columbia, they restored the film, which is also slated for release in Blu-ray format in June 4, 2012.

The film is based on the life of T.E. Lawrence, a British army officer known for his activities in the Arab Revolt. It also focuses on emotional struggles that he experienced during that time. Lawrence of Arabia is presented in 2 parts and mainly centers on the events of World War I from Lawrence’s point of view. The film was nominated in 10 categories at the 35th Academy Awards and won 7 awards, including Best Picture and Best Director.

To this day, Lawrence of Arabia continues to be one of the best epic films of all time. View the trailer of the movie on the clip below:

I agree, great music! Played the Overture in a band concert several years ago and had tons of fun. Not to mention, one of the greatest movies of all time!
