The 7 Analogue Changes in My Life

This is about the 7 changes I’ve come to pass when I entered the door of the Analogue World.

1. I became patient.
Being patient is one of the first changes I developed in converting to analogue. There are instances that I think I have to wait for the right moment to get the perfect shot. I think of shooting as a one chance opportunity, a chance to preserve that tiny slice of second that will only happen once. I think this is the big difference from shooting digital where I can shoot continuously until the right moment pass, while in analogue I am only limited to normally 36 shots.

2. I became observant.
I started looking around more. Before, I just walk our street not noticing those people that I pass, what things they are doing, or what’s new. I realized that walking the same street everyday does not mean you’ve seen everything about that place. I became aware that every day, something always happens and nothing stays the same, you just have to observe, there’s always something new to shoot.

3. I started looking up.
We lomo lovers love blue skies, and great white fluffy clouds. I started looking up and appreciating the sky more often and it felt like I’ve never seen the sky so beautiful before. Also, I think it’s very important to always know the weather, especially when you have shaky hands.

4. Built connection with strangers.
I always loved conversing and taking photos of unfamiliar people, I just never had the guts to do it before. When I started my analogue living, and joined Shutter Revolution, I became more confident on talking to people I do not know, and most of them became my friends now. Let’s not go too far, here in LSI I’ve been talking to a lot of strangers from around the world!

5. I learned to appreciate simple things.
A stray cat, reflections in water, signs, textures; I learned to appreciate all of those things. I think this is connected on being observant; being appreciative of simple things also helps you to be happy. For me, these simple things are what make this world beautiful.

6. I became more open in trying new things.
One of the newest things I tried was to eat frog legs. Some SR members loves to shoot and eat at Binondo(China Town), one time they bought me to this place called “Estero” where we ordered frog legs, and man, I never thought frog legs would taste that good. Trying new things not just in taking photos, but also in real life, is very important. It has become my principle that I will only live once, so I better try all the things I want to try.

7. I learned to save money.
I learned to save money and to not spend much on useless things. I learned to save money not just for buying fims and cameras, but also for travelling. I started to really like travelling, going to places i’ve never been to, and having adventure with whoever people. I feel that it is a must for me to be able to go to all the wonderful places in this planet.

That’s all for the 7 analogue changes in my life. Do you have some analogue changes in your life too? I will surely be glad to hear it!
