Pinhole Project: Ghost Employees

What started out as a silly idea became an inspiration for me for a pinhole project. Entitled "Ghost Employees," my goal is to document and illustrate the hustle and bustle of people's everyday working life. Interested? Let me share with you some more of my thoughts on this ongoing project after the jump!

Sometime last year, I came across the clever personal project of tattso called Life Suction, which documents his daily life using the Diana Multi-Pinhole Operator. Intrigued, I also picked up Lomography’s very own pinhole camera and started capturing many things happening around my daily life.

However, of all the pinhole photos that I snapped, the ones I liked most are those of my workplace. I liked how everyone (including myself) looked so restless and ghostly at the same time, seemingly consumed by the tasks, paperwork, and computers before them. When I showed my workmates the outcome of my photos, they joked that I had actually captured ghosts. Then, I had an idea, albeit a silly one—why not start a pinhole project called Ghost Employees?

Now, where do I plan to take this project? Aside from the typical office environment, I’m also planning to take this analogue endeavor in cafes, restaurants, hotels, classrooms, and anywhere else where I can capture interesting busy scenes and people at work.

What do you think? Can you help me come up with more ideas for this project? I’ll be more than happy to get inputs from everyone!

The Diana Multi-Pinhole Operator allows you to choose from 1, 2, or 3 pinholes on a shot. Paired with colour gels, there’s no end to your medium format pinhole fun! Get your own Diana Multi Pinhole Operator now!
