Dreams Do Come True: adi_totp In India #4

After spending just 12 hours in Udaipur, I immediately fell in love! Now, I have to go back to New Delhi. I took a night train again and slept for 12 hours, it's good that I just have to sleep to reach New Delhi. So what's it gonna be like in New Delhi? I will continue this story below. Urban Adventure in New Delhi starts now!

Good Morning, Delhi

I reached New Delhi on this freezing winter morning and I was still sleepy like a baby. When I walked to the exit of Nizamudin station, I just took out my LC-A+ off my bag and started shooting. Oh well, when you’re still sleepy and you love to shoot with your camera, doing some little finger snapping with a camera doesn’t hurt you at all.

Nizamudin station

The first thing in my mind every time I reach a train station in India was Autorickshaw! I’m a big fan of it. So I walked and started searching for the right autorickshaw, call me picky but I want a good autorickshaw since the distance from Nizamudin station to the hotel I will stay is quite far.

Autorickshaws in front of Nizamudin Station

After finding the right autorickshaw, I was my way to the hotel!

In the autorickshaw

Man, it was so freezing that morning that I immediately walked to the hotel in Pahar Ganj.

Pahar Ganj

After taking a quick shower, I watched a music video of Bollywood stars on TV. Katrina Kaif and Kareena Kapoor seem to be like in every music video. Because of that, I watched TV for an hour and went upstairs to the hotel’s restaurant for a good breakfast. I was still very sleepy though.

Hotel’s restaurant

Now, as a first timer in Delhi, I decided to go to the Red Fort. Before that I have to walk down the streets and find another autorickshaw. If you’re bored with the autorickshaw word, don’t be. Because on this story, there will be plenty of ‘autorickshaw’.

As I reached Red Fort after a quick shower and a good breakfast, I was so refreshed because the sun on that Saturday morning was so lovely. Red Fort seemed so red (of course it’s red and that’s why it’s called Red Fort!) and strong and shiny too!

Oh yeah, I took some Classic Self Portraits in front of Red Fort too. Must-have self-portraits!

As I entered the Red Fort, I imagined what it’s like when the Mughal emperor stayed there. What’s life like back then? Is it sunny like now? is it fun? Well, these stupid questions haunted me because I just admired this Mughal Emperor’s Fort and Shah Jahan is pure genius. I know I’m suck in history but I enjoyed walking around this massive fort.

Spending hours in the Red Fort made me realiz how great the golden age of Mughal architecture was. After buying some souvenirs in Meena Bazar, I went out of the Red Fort.

Across The Red Fort was the famous Chandni Chowk. I decided not to walk there and instead just walked using another route to Jama Masjid. As I walked down the streets, people were eating and talking, they seemed to enjoy this bright sunny afternoon. Yes, life is good when you enjoy it!

I kept on walking until I reached the South Gate of Jama Masjid in Old Delhi. I was like “Whooooaaaaa” and took my Horizon and started shooting immediately.

As I entered Jama Masjid, I couldn’t help but imagine what it was like when it was Eid. Maybe 25.000 people or more were there.

Suddenly, I heard a call from my own stomach! “ADI, I’M HUNGRY”. Oh well, time to eat then!

View from Jama Masjid to the Streets of Old Delhi

I was officially hungry and I had to walk down the busy streets of Old Delhi. It was so much fun!

As I reached Karim’s for a late lunch. I was totally hungry but there was a long line there but I didn’t care because I will eat!

After eating, I was full of energy and ready to shoot the streets of New Delhi. So my dear friend, Lomo LC-A+ RL and I went warming up and I got to shooting! Click! Click!

After walking down the streets of Old Delhi, I decided to take a turn to Chawri Bazar. Chawri Bazar is a specialized wholesale market of brass, copper and paper products. This time LC-Wide accompanied me through this LomoMoment. I just love walking down the streets and shooting everything around me. Lomographers? We love that, don’t we? So we’ll hit the streets of Chawri Bazar!

After finishing one roll in Chawri Bazar, I had so much fun! I searched again for an autorickshaw and stumbled this young lad named Imran. He said “We’re brothers, man!” and yes, of course we are, we shared the same religion. Overall, Imran is a young talkative smoking autorickshaw driver. He took me to Connaught Place because I forgot to buy souvenirs for my brothers. Yeah, my brothers that I love very much.

Imran

After buying souvenirs in Connaught Place, I decided to chill in the park and enjoy the sun like everyone else there. It was a perfect afternoon for my first day in Delhi.

After buying food, I decided to go back to the hotel because I was so sleepy and stayed in the rest of the night. I watch Bollywood movies on the TV and I really enjoyed it. So little time and so many things to do, also so many places to visit. Next time when I travel to India, I will take things slowly and I must stay in India for months. Hopefully, I will go back here. In the mean time, let me tell you all this story. See you on the last part of adi_totp in India!

Your Lens Licker Friend, Adi.
