Dreams Do Come True: adi_totp In India #3

After a funny day at Jaipur, I continued my journey to The Perfect Lake City in Rajasthan, Udaipur! I think Udaipur is already known by many people because of James Bonds's Octopussy. Oh well, I will not talk about Roger Moore here but let's see this very beautiful city that touched my heart. Yes, I'm in love with Udaipur!

The Perfect Lake City

I arrived so early in the morning, it took about 8 hours from Jaipur to Udaipur. Oh well, it doesn’t matter because I was asleep during the journey, no big deal. Anyway, I arrived so early in Udaipur and it was freezing. I just wore my hoodie and people were wearing these big jackets, well I felt so strange but I didn’t care and just ordered Chai from the food stall. Since it was early in the morning, I decided to walk first and search for my favorite vehicle, the autorickshaw!

That autorickshaw brought me straight to the heart of Udaipur. The first stop was the Jagdish Temple.

After I visited Jagdish Temple, I just walked around Udaipur and I was so sleepy (as always). Sleepy, but my fingers were itchy and I was clicking away brutally when I walked throught the streets of Udaipur.

After walking and shooting, I ended up in Gangori Ghat and decided to sit there to push away my sleepy head and just see the beautiful scene in front of me. What’s the story? Morning glory!

After a little break, I decided to walk again. This time the sun was already up! The sun kissed my face and I got a feeling that today would be a beautiful day!

Walking around Udaipur gave me a totally unique experience and it was definitely my LomoMoment because I just walked around without a destination, clicking my cameras along the way and capturing and absorbing everything around me. It was a really really beautiful morning in Udaipur!

As I walked down the streets, I stumbled upon a young couple who was going to get married that day. I’m happy for them! Love is in the air! Love in the morning? Morning glory!

It’s good to see moments like this, priceless! As I continued my walk, I saw this souvenir shop and I stopped there. I bought some souvenirs for my loved ones back in Indonesia. I talked with the shop keeper and he was so kind. He and his wife offered me Chai and we talked about Udaipur. It’s really nice to talk with people, especially when you’re travelling alone and suddenly you miss your family. The art of solo travelling, I must say.

After walking around, I got hungry. I decided to eat in this rooftop restaurant. I forgot the name. Well, I was having my meal then suddenly there was a massive bull fight in the streets. THE BULLs HIT THE STREETS! It’s like watching TV at home but the difference is I saw it live and kicking! Here’s some shots of the bull fight. I hope you all could see it because I shot it from the top.

After enjoying the meal and the bull fight, I walked again to Ki-Bagore Haveli, The museum of Art and Culture in Udaipur. If you love art and want to know what’s art in Rajasthan especially in Udaipur, this museum is totally for you!

I really enjoyed this museum because it’s totally unique. Personally, I could see myself wearing a Rajasthani turban. I learned a lot about culture, the Rajasthani culture in particular. Why is a mustache so important in the culture? Well, that question was answered by the your guide. I had a mustache that time, and after the explanation from the tour guide, I felt lucky to have my own mustache.

There was a poster in Ki-Bagore Haveli that said “Visit Shilpgram!”. Interesting! So I walked around to search another autorickshaw that will take me to Shilpgram.

Shilpgram means Art Village. This village was made to show how many cultures there are in Rajasthan. I love being in Shilpgram, despite the hot weather and the sun seems to love me so much! I just walked alone around shilpgram and met many new people there.

Kuntam The Puppeteer

Spending hours in Shilpgram was great! but it’s time to go back to the city.

Zakid and The Lake

After arriving in the city, I went straight to the barber shop. I decided to get rid off my beard and mustache in Maheesh’s Barber Shop. adi_totp’s shaving in Udaipur Style!

It was afternoon and I think it was the perfect time to chill near the lake after walking around Udaipur.

Oh yeah, when I was chilling near the lake and daydreaming, suddenly this little girl came to me and said “WHAT’S YOUR NAME?” she screamed at me a little, I was a bit surprised because I’m obviously day dreaming at that time. I said “Ahmad”, she replied “Amal?!” , no “Ahmad!”, “Amal?!!” , “AHMAD!!” . Enough said, I laughed because Amal is my cousin, well my best cousin. Is that legit? Best cousin? Well, Amal and I are like best buddy in terms of cousins. So when that little girl called me “Amal” , I just smiled at her and decided to take her photo.

Little Girl

After chilling near the lake, I was hungry and walked around Udaipur to have a late lunch before going back to Udaipur City, to catch a train to New Delhi.

After a big late lunch, I took an autorickshaw and went to Udaipur’s Railway Station.

Udaipur CIty

Udaipur just needed 12 hours to make me fall in love. Oh well, I shall go back there for my honeymoon, maybe. Let’s hope Udaipur will welcome me back. I must say, Udaipur is a very romantic city. It’s a pity that I went there alone. How about you? Have you been here?
