Hi folks! My name is David (megustastu) and I just moved to San Diego from Barcelona. That means that everything here is new and exciting for me so be ready to follow “The Adventures of an Spaniard in Southern California”.
My love for film photography started in 2006 when I got sick of using my digital camera, without getting the results I was looking for. So I rescued an old Olympus Pen EE camera and shot a few rolls of film. Then, 6 years after, I was packing to move to San Diego and I realized that more than a half of my suitcase was full of cameras and films…
I’m a Neuroscientist in The Salk Institute for Biological Studies, one of the most relevant research centers in the world. But despite the extended idea that research centers are “top secret” inaccessible places, The Salk is always open to visitors as it’s building (designed by Louis Kahn) is an important hallmark of San Diego’s architecture. I feel lucky to work in such a “photogenic” place.
Beyond science and photography, I love hiking (this is the call of the biologist that sleeps inside of me), movies, art and music. But my secret hobby is “bargain hunting” and I’m always looking for flea markets and garage sales.
I hope that you enjoy reading my future contributions as a US CitySlicker!

If this is about Southern California, why have you mixed so many photos from Spain?
