Hello! Tell us a bit about yourself.
Hi, my name is Daryl and I kinda am only a baby in terms of Lomography and photography. I have always liked photography but the technical aspect of it puts me off for many years. It was only like 3 years when I chance upon this old style, retro looking camera with a over sized flash…it was the Diana F+ that got me interested.
I checked it out and researched a bit more and stumbled upon the Lomography website. Oh my, oh my…there were so many nice photos taken and shared by people all over the world! And they were so vibrant and creative…and what? They are film! That blew me away and I was smitten on the spot.
After days of surfing the site, I was hooked and I plunged into analogue photography and Lomography. My 1st camera was the Diana F+ and that was it…one thing led to another and I started to collect other vintage film cameras and I have a modest working collection now.
How many Lomography cameras do you have in your collection?
We’re sure it’s hard to pick one, but which Lomography camera is your all time favourite? And which camera is on your wishlist right now?
You are right, its really hard to choose one. They are so fun to use and each has its own strengths, but if I really have to choose one, I would have to say it’s the LC-A+.
On my wishlist? The HORIZON PERFEKT!!! It takes such dreamy pictures. I also come to realize that it’s fully mechanical! What a piece of art this camera is. It’s been on my wish list for a loooong loooong time already.
Please share with us the top 3 favourite shots ever that you’ve taken, and tell us a bit about each photo.
What do you like about the Lomography community?
The community is filled with people from all ethnicities, nationalities, and ages but yet share one thing in common, which is Lomography. Every one is so nice. I have yet to meet any Lomographer whom I dislike. The community is so full of friendly, appreciative and amiable characters. I also feel a lot of energy and creativity in this community.
I can gaze at the community’s uploaded photos to get inspired. This community also shares many things — things like what they like, where they have been, their families and friends, their toys and hobbies, their travels, their thoughts, and interests. You can understand a piece of everyone just by seeing the photos they post. It’s amazing!
As a Lomography Singapore Community Star, do you want to share any advice or tips for Lomographers out there?
Be happy, take more pictures and enjoy the fun of Lomography instead of worrying about the results. No picture is perfect and its this imperfection which makes the picture perfect.
