Portraits of Strangers: The People that Interest Me

People interest me. I have a thing for black guys, they always make me smile for some reason. We're all born the same way and we have the same organs and same blood pulsing through our veins -- but we still come out so different. Since I got my LC-A+ 1.5 years ago, a few people have stood out and I'm gonna share them with you now.

This is from the first roll I ever took. It’s a hipshot that I took while walking. The red coat, the cigarette in hand, the light and the texture of the building behind her. I really like this shot. She looked like she was thinking something through or had a tough meeting inside that she didn’t want to deal with.

If I had to guess, I’d say they had surely passed 70 years of age. And probably been together a long long time. And they were still holding hands. Very heartwarming.

Again from my first ever roll. Not super happy with this one, the composition could’ve been better. But still. I’m pretty confident this was a grandmother and not the mother of this kid, on a warm late autumn day. Checking out the birds in the pond. Had to snap this pic.

I don’t like dogs much personally, and I never have. And if I ever got a dog, I would be sure to get something that doesn’t look like a skinny rat and that doesn’t need clothes, but that’s just my opinion. My cat is bigger than some dogs, and he’s not fat in any way, he’s just big and has a lot of muscle. He’d probably eat one of those tiny dogs if they came too close.

Jokkmokk winter market. Sami traditional clothing. And if you don’t have traditional clothing you have a snow-mobile jump-suit. The people from north of Sweden have been wearing those hats for a good 20-30 years I’m sure, and when I saw that they were in fashion posters last year for H&M and such, I almost fell off my feet laughing cause I would have never believed that they’d be fashionable.

I walked behind this group of three for so long because I desperately wanted a pic of the chic with the red shoes but we were walking in shadow all until this lucky short moment. Gotta be quick on the fingers!

A girl looking down on the railroad tracks. I wonder what she was thinking about.
