The indie pop group Little Joy was formed in 2007 by 3 musicians – Rodrigo Amarante of Los Hermanos, Fabrizio Moretti of The Strokes, and instrumentalist Binki Shapiro. After writing some songs and recording demos, they finally released their self-titled album in 2008. Stephen Trousse of Pitchfork Media described the album as “one of the sweetest, most listenable, consistently enjoyable records of the season”. For the music video of their song Next Time Around, they used a vintage Bolex loaded with 8mm film.

Bolex, a Swiss company, has been manufacturing movie cameras and lenses since 1927. They specialize in producing 16mm and Super 16mm formats, and also offer a wide range of cameras and projectors. Even today, some animators and documentary filmmakers still prefer to use a vintage film camera as opposed to going digital.
