Abbey Road Photo Session Outtakes

Most all of us can recall, from memory, The Beatles' iconic 'Abbey Road' album cover. Stories, such as the urban legend of Paul being dead, have been spun from the cover depicting The Fab Four crossing the zebra crossing in the London borough where Abbey Road Studios is located. Though, what you may never have crossed paths with yet are these outtakes!

There were onlookers, double, triple, quadruple takes, wardrobe adjustments, many-a-hair flicked back behind the ears, and likely a snack or lunch break and trip to the loo (or two) taken in between! I like how the first photo in the gallery below seems to show the stages of facial hair growth. If only George and John were stood side-by-side, we wonder who would win longest beard and hair combo!

Scottish photographer Iain MacMillan was at the helm at this photo shoot which, reportedly only took ten minutes! So, perhaps there weren’t multiple trips to the loo…

What’s more appropriate than a 16-minute medley of Abbey Road songs! Here’s a dose of them in jackboots and kilt, though not really as they’re dressed in fabulous bell bottoms, with Paul’s even sans-shoes!

And, while this isn’t so much of an outtake, it’s Paul and his Old English Sheepdog more than two decades after the 1969 photo session – which was probably followed by a jam session.
