Newcomer of the Week: C0o1b34n5

‘Take your camera everywhere you go’ is one of the Lomographic golden rules he takes seriously. At times when he don’t have his camera with him, it just felt like losing one of his three eyes.

How did you find out about the Community and who/what convinced you to join?

My mother got me the Lomography Fisheye No. 2 for Christmas and I went online to see what I could do with it and that’s really how I found the Community. The people of the Community were the ones who convinced me to join. I really like that people can like and comment on your photos. I find that to be extremely beneficial, especially since I’m completely new with photography.

Is there anyone in the Lomographic Society you look up to? If yes, who is him/her and why?

There really isn’t just one person that I look up to within the Lomographic Society. I look up to everyone especially the few people who have liked my pictures. I also want to thank those few people for even looking at my photos. It means the world to me knowing that there are people who have liked what I’ve done.

As you have read the 10 Golden Rules of Lomography, what rule do you apply in your everyday life?

Of the 10 Golden Rules of Lomography, the one rule that I apply to everyday life is Rule #1: ‘Take your camera everywhere you go.’ And I do! I go to a performing arts college that only has 10 weeks for each semester. So my schedule is extremely full, 9am to 10pm most days, and my classmates are always asking why I have my camera with me every time they see me. I always say because you never know when you’ll see something you want to take a picture of or suddenly get some inspiration for a totally awesome photo, and if I don’t have my camera, I’m screwed. So I keep it with me everywhere I go.

In this digital age, why still film?

Well, I just started using film again. I don’t really know why I’m back to using it yet. I know you can do some crazy awesome things with it but I’m still trying to figure out all the different possibilities. I feel like it puts a really cool and unique spin on photography.

Share your current favorite Lomograph (could be yours or a friend’s) and explain why it is your favorite.

My current favorite Lomograph would have to be the picture of my little sister cuddling up with my dog in my parent’s bed. It’s cute as hell and I miss them so much. I’m away from home for school and I won’t get to see them for another five months. I have it as my wallpaper on my computer.

Newbie, rookie, neophyte or whatever you call them, our new breed of the ever-growing band of Lomographers are set to conquer the analogue land with their brand new hip-shooting abilities! And this is where we feature them along with their wistful thoughts and the freshest snaps each week!
