Definitely, one of the most memorable experiences in the Community was creating the Lomo collective Les Parisiens and all the projects we developed together. It all began when I met adbigmilk, about 2 years ago. After chatting through the Lomography website we decided to meet up for drinks. It was a lot of fun and we decided to meet up again, and then soon after, guiguiste, fabyen and remi-boiteux, who I also met through the Lomography web site, started joining us! After several drinks and a lot of good times we decided to create a sort of collective. To share this collaboration with the Community, we asked other Lomographers to suggest a theme and then we’d do a film swap and also shoot around the theme. We had lots of great ideas coming from the Community and it was really a great surprise to feel the enthusiasm around our project! Today Les-Parisiens are not very active… not easy maintaining a high activity along with our busy lives (Hey there is a young mom in Les Parisiens… Would you be able to guess who? ;D) but sure we’ll come back soon, we’re open to new projects and maybe some new members… Stay tuned folks! ;D
Another fun experience was to be beta tester for the spinner 360 (thanks again LSI). It was such an unusual camera, I really loved taking the camera everywhere on different trips and testing different possibilities with it. It was also really hard to keep it secret from my Lomofriends… I’ll never forget people’s expression everytime they saw me shooting with the Spinner… it let nobody indifferent!
Have you actually met people in the Community that you now consider as close friends? If yes, name at least one of them.
Besides Les Parisiens who are all good friends, there are lots of great Lomographers in Paris with whom I’ve became very good friends. My mate elvismartinezsmith, pussylove and taka172cm, mr supa love mikahsupageek, redtulip, zenline who’s from Nice but comes often in Paris, sebastianerras, dfred, backforbreakfast when she was living in Paris. I also met quaisoir from Singapore during one memorable evening. She told us that she was only staying for one night in Paris, so we organized with Les Parisiens and others an “apero” so she could meet the whole crowd… And we had a blast!
During a trip to Portugal, I met cpolpa in Porto. He took us out to some of his favorites places, which was really great. Recently, during a trip to Berlin, I met anarchy and klickovic, who really rock! ;D
Oh, and anafaro, a brilliant and super nice Lomographer, that I met between Paris and Lisbon.
It is always a great experience to meet Lomofriends in real life, there are still so many Lomographers that I would love to meet for real, like my friends dogma, japsix, vicuna, stouf disdis, warning, atria007, renaishashin, panelomo, kdstevens, sandkorn, stonerfairy, dakadev_pui, clickiemcpete, pepper-b, amongst others… And of course my great Lomofriends mephisto19 and satomi.
And last but not least, my lovely cc-in-paris who I was really lucky to meet in real life ;D
Do you think you’ll still be taking Lomographs in the next 5 years? Why?
Yes for sure! I´m in love with analogue photography and with my Lomo cameras, so perhaps I might be less active, but I´ll never stop taking Lomographs!
What is your favorite Lomo camera and why? Do you have any memorable experiences while using this camera?
Over the years I´ve collected lots of cameras and I love to shoot with all of them, depending on the mood. However, I always have my LC-A+ with me. This camera offers so many possibilities, it´s small and really easy to use, the ideal snappin’ companion. It was love a first click. The first time I used the LC-A+ was when the Paris Lomography store organized a rumble and lended LC-A+ for two days. I shot an album for the rumble around the theme of happiness and I was super happy with the results. And on top of everything I came in second place with this
Is there any advice you can give to new analogue shooters?
Nope, good luck kids! Just kidding, just have fun. Don’t fear failure, experiment with different cameras and films, and, most importantly, enjoy taking pictures!
They are the ones whose passion transcends not only by what they do and say, but also with what they see and capture with their film cameras. And with such attributes aforementioned, they are what we call LomoGurus! Every week, we get to ask questions and reveal some insights with the most talented and productive of all Lomographers from the Community!
