Newcomer of the Week: Aerre

It’s that time of the day again where we get to know more about not only the newest, but also the most fervent of all Lomographers out there!

For someone who was already been born by the analogue era, loading film inside the camera is something very familiar to her, a very ordinary thing that is commonly seen – it’s as if her favourite 1980’s children’s show is regularly shown in the telly.

Although new to the community, there are already quite a few things that he truly adores! Here’s our newcomer of the week!

Name: Andrea Rossi
LomoHome: http://www.lomography.com/homes/aerre
Location: In Italy, in a small village near Como
Camera Shelf: Diana Mini, an old Canon ex-ee, an old Praktica IV and a Canon eos 50E. Sometimes I use an Actionsampler.

How did you find out about the community and who/what convinced you to join?

I discovered Lomography and its community while reading an article in an Italian photo magazine, it was a Diana Mini review and think it was in 2009. After two weeks the postman brought me my brand new “toy” camera with a lot of expired films. Only last week I decided to share some of my albums on www.lomography.com. Hope you like them!

Is there anyone in the Lomographic Society you look up to? If yes, who is him/her and why?

I’ve been in this society since last week and until now I’ve only watched “random homes”, “recent popular photos” and random albums of people who have dropped by my home.

As you have read the 10 Golden Rules of Lomography, what rule do you apply in your everyday life?

I think that my favorite rule is #10 – Don’t worry about any rules. When I take a picture I only follow my mood and my instinct.

In this digital age, why still film?

I was born in an era of analogue – in ‘83. So to me, using film is the most natural way to take a picture. I’ve tried using a digital camera but I didn’t like it. Too much buttons and the frequent low battery alert. I think that real photography resides in films. Digital cameras only generate cold images not photos and I also love the noise of the shutter in my film cameras.

Share your current favorite Lomograph (could be yours or a friend’s) and explain why it is your favorite.

Recently I’ve seen the album red october 2011 by hodachrome…. I think is one of the best albums I’ve seen so far. Great colors and amazing atmosphere!

Newbie, rookie, neophyte or whatever you call them, our new breed of the ever-growing band of Lomographers are set to conquer the analogue land with their brand new hip-shooting abilities! And this is where we feature them along with their wistful thoughts and the freshest snaps each week!
