Describe your photographic style in one sentence:
My photography style is simply raw and gritty personal portraiture.

How/when did you discover your passion for photography?
Through reading skateboarding magazines when I was growing up as well as watching movies practically every day throughout my childhood. Seeing all these images made me want to create my own.

Can you give us an insight into your creative process?
As far as my creative process goes, I don’t really orchestrate photos; I more so try and capture moments or a feeling. When I shoot portraits the most important thing to do is make your subject comfortable. I work on that part first and the technical photography second.

What do you love most about working as a photographer in Toronto? What do you love least?
Toronto is much like a melting pot with new people always coming in and out, so there are always new people to take photos of. Toronto is that one place in Canada next to Vancouver where people from the rest of country converge to live. The winter is what I love least, holding a camera without gloves in -20 degree weather makes getting that photo a little difficult.

Dream photograph? (Style, composition, subject. Etc)
I always love photos that are natural and seemingly unattainable. So having the opportunity to shoot say, someone famous, candidly and comfortably would be a dream. I would also like to shoot candid lifestyle/portraiture photos in a prison. Both situations are not easily attainable and both could result in photos people wouldn’t forget.

Top 3 places to find inspiration in Toronto:
Parkdale, the subway, the financial district at night.

Why are you excited to be a part of the OTM+LOMO: DEPICT T.O. Show?
I’m excited to be a part of a show where all photos have to be shot on film, as most of my work is shot on film. As well as the opportunity to be a part of the Toronto community of photographers in such a venue as this.
