City And Colour's Little Hell

City and Colour (a.k.a. Dallas Green) recently released his third solo album called "Little Hell", which he has recorded for the first time completely in analogue.

Dallas Green is actually a singer and guitarist of the hardcore band Alexisonfire, but since he has a heart for folk music, he began his singer/songwriter songs under the name City and Colour to publish. Sad music, the listener can identify with what Green meant. This proves that he has succeeded, especially his second album “Bring Me Your Love” which reached his native Canada in 2009, reached platinum and won a Juno Award for best songwriting. In Germany, he released his new third album “Little Hell” on 17th of June on the Cooking Vinyl label. What is new is that for the first time, he recorded everything completely analogue.

The album was recorded in the Catherine North Studios in Hamilton, Ontario, a converted church with a very open architecture, together with producer Alex Newport, who’s also worked already for Death Cab For Cutie and At The Drive-In. To give the album a distinctive sound, everything was taped and produced. At first, Dallas Green was not so enthusiastic of this decision, but then he quickly realized that he, just as songwriters and artists, could capture something more genuine and real.

The theme of the album is about the little heavens and hells, which one can or needs to go through in relationships and in life in order to achieve its goals. Dallas Green has once again made an incredibly beautiful album and all who know his music, as a singer/songwriter, has recommended this album highly. More information on the music by City And Colour, Dallas Green are on his website.
