Vienna’s Old Photo Booth in MuseumsQuartier

A visit to the “Photoautomat” placed in MuseumsQuartier in Vienna is one of the must-do things if you are around town. This photo booth will take you to a dreamy world of joy in just a few seconds and in four flashes. Sit comfortably on its tiny chair, draw the curtain, pay €2 in coins, and get yourself immortalized in four poses!

We all love analog photos, we all love that vintage look, that smell of an instant photo. Combine all these ingredients in the cozy atmosphere of an old photo booth in the corner of one of the most charming cities in the world and get a photostrip that you will adore.

We were visiting Vienna and in two different days we passed through the Museums Quartier. We couldn’t help skidding in the narrow cabin and falling in love with the magical booth!

It is just a great way to have fun, making poses (you have enough time between each) while you get a little bit blind because of its strong flash. Once you have done your best in the photo booth, you need 5 minutes to have your photos ready. While you wait you hear the machine working, those 5 minutes are breathless eternal until the photostrip is dropped wet! Did I mention the great quality of the photo?

The 4 photos are so vintage, still black and white but a little bit sepia with that irregular frame around them which makes them look like they were taken many years ago! What also surprised me was the fact that some instructions were in Spanish; where was the booth before it hit Vienna?

Visiting a Photo Booth also means forgetting about those boring Passport photos from your loved one, I mean that one you carry in your wallet. You’ll have a more personalized-arty one. Also, your mother will love it (doesn’t she ask you for a small photo of you from time to time? Mine does.).

The “Photoautomat” is located in MuseumsQuartier main entrance since May 2010. It is worth visiting the Museums Quartier not only for all the museums and many attractions inside it, not only for the photo booth itself, but also because you can visit the Lomography Shop Vienna there! What a paradise for us!
