It's all-out fashion week here on Lomography's Magazine! Today, let us all twist and shout as Twiggy, "The Face of '66," blows us away with her eternally voguish looks and style.
During her fashion reign in the ‘60s, Twiggy (born as Lesley Hornby), the world’s first and foremost supermodel, was definitely “all that” — with her androgynous haircut to-die-for, skinny figure, angelic and beautifully modeled facial features, and illustrious eyelashes, her stirring style captured the hearts of countless teenagers. And of course, fashion photographers adored her. Her spectacular rise to fame began when she was only 16 years young.
Twiggy in psychedelic technicolor:
Her wide eyes, well-sculpted jaw structure, and scarce freckles — perfect in every way!
Twiggy in stunning black and white:
Her face in monochrome pictures is as equally disarming as it is in multicolor.
Twiggy in magazine covers:
Her photographs graced various prime fashion magazines such as Journal, Seventeen, and Vogue, to name a few.
Twiggy and her faux eyelashes:
Aside from her endless legs and waif-like physique, Twiggy will always be known for her extraordinary lashes — these fancy, tiny eye-poppers may be artificial but they have become a permanent look of the 1960s. Thanks to our darling, Twiggy, here’s how she used to dramatize her lashes!
Twiggy and many more!
Twiggy the supermodel was not just a lady with good looks — she is a jill-of-all-trades! She proved herself as a successful actress in both film and television. She was also a recording artist. Below is a vintage video clip of her being interviewed and showing off her cutesy dance moves and modelling poses.
To date, the ever-lovely doe-eyed Miss Lesley Hornby continues with her career as a leading role model for women’s fashion and style…
Twiggy is, indeed, a living (and a very fashionable one) legend.
