5 Questions on Analogue Photography with Dihyang

5 Questions on Analogue Photography with…" we send out the same set of questions to photographers. This time, Dihyang – a photographer, a designer and a friend from Malaysia – answered these and sent along a selection of his work.

Name: Dihyang
Occupation: Photographer and designer
Country: Malaysia

1. Tell us about yourself in three sentences maximum?
Passionate in observation.

Dihyang

2. Why do you still shoot analogue?
Photography is a form of art visualization. I dislike the DSLR’s preview screen because it doesn’t give you a nice result. In fact, it makes you feel more insecure and it blocks your visualization and imagination from flowing when you keep checking with your preview-screen when you shoot every photograph.

3. What photographic equipment (cameras, films, and accessories) do you usually have in your bag?
Minox 35GTE, Kodak Tri-X, and a DIY lenshood.

4. Share a trick of yours that will always result to a great photo.
Learn to be observative, be patient and always find a way to hide yourself and your camera when you’re taking a candid shot. Also, a small and low profile camera is a must as it comes in handy.

5. Which photographers influence your work?
Henri Cartier Bresson, Rinko Kawauchi, Kotori Kawashima, Annie Leibovitz, Patrick Demarchelier, Terry Richardson, Raghuibir Singh.

Thanks to Dihyang for taking the time to answer these questions! See more of his work on his website.
