I am a kind of a person who is a control-freak and who takes everything too seriously. It started to be a serious problem when I moved to Prague where I started my post-doc study last year. And what was the recipe for overcoming this situation?
I love the school; people whom I’ve met there and especially Prague and its vivid atmosphere, but my first feelings when I moved there where indescribable. I was forced to start from the beginning with no friends or family by my side.
After the first stresses and strains were over I decided to start with a hobby which will be able to calm me down and reset my mind. Well, the first try was taking photos with my digital camera; however, I was soon fed up with the effect because the places and people on the photos were not really as I remembered them. The atmosphere was lost somewhere on the way to my camera.
The next try was archery since I’ve always been amazed by this sport, so elegant and dangerous at the same time. It worked but still I was missing something, being unable to describe what.
Few months ago, I discovered Supersampler and I feel in love with it at the very first sight. Photos started to tell the stories and narratives as I remembered them and soon I was obsessed with this kind of four pictures stories.
And from this camera it is just one step to the analogue lifestyle. I remembered that we used to have a Beirette when I was a small child. Well, I went home and search the whole house. My effort was met with success and nowadays I am experimenting with this almost 20 years old camera. To make my collection of analogous cameras bigger, I ordered Sprocket Rocket just few days ago. I can’t wait to start shooting photos with it. Honestly, I’ve never been so excited in my life.
What is great I learned to be less of the control-freak since I have almost no control over the photos from the Supersampler, moreover it is a perfect way of relaxing.
I send my love to all Lomographers!
