First Impressions of a Newbie

Last Christmas my sister, a huge analogue fanatic, gave me a Fisheye. I had been lurking in the outskirts of the Lomoworld, but I hadn't dared come in, until that. I guess you could consider it the much needed push.

She also gave my older brother a Colorsplash, but that’s another story. Lomo doesn’t hit him like it did in my case. I think I’m gonna steal that camera from him.

My initial reaction was to be a child again and just “play” with the camera. Eventually, I decided to wind the wheel and press the button.

I had difficulty with the Agfa Pro that came with the pack. I am quite impatient so I used up the whole roll indoors and without flash. So that was 24+3 photos of darkness. As you are probably imagining, there was no hope for that roll. It came out all black. But, for my second roll, I spent it in a bar where I would say I took my first real photos.

The results? Photos that look kind of funny. But hey, I’m a newbie.

I'm a newbie too, I understand your frustraition. The great thing about lomo though is that the mistakes are half the fun, and often the thing that makes a photo great! In any case, I enjoyed you article and album :)

Hey, welcome in lomoworld! And patience is virtue, everybody here was a newbie once. Be creative, be inventive and never let stop your shooting passion by a failed roll or failed experiment! :) Mistakes are made to learn from them.... :)
