I spent this year’s Carnival weekend in a little town called Calafell in Catalonia’s Golden Coast (Costa Daurada) with some friends, so I couldn’t resist take one of my Lomographic cameras with me!
My friends and I are really Carnival fans, and try every year a different nearby location to spend the weekend, dress up and have fun. In past years we’ve tried Sitges, Lloret de Mar or Vilanova i la Geltrú. This year, someone recommended Calafell, since it’s a small town with beach and a good Carnival atmosphere. In fact, there is night Carnival parade (rua), which starts in the neighbouring town of Segur de Calafell and ends in Calafell seafront. After the parade (quite long, by the way) you can party in many bars around the streets from the centre. And that’s exactly what we did, and Calafell didn’t disappoint us. Not so big as Sitges, but with a quite good and more relaxed atmosphere, you can actually move among the people and have space for you and your friends in any bar (not like Sitges).
Since my LC-A is broken, I took the Olympus Xa2 with a Lomography slide 200 film to cross process. This is our private parade in the apartment we rented before joining the official parade and the party. Can you guess who am I?
In case you haven’t guessed, I’m the red Power Ranger!!! Waiting for next year’s Carnival!!! (or any excuse to dress up in a costume).
