PYHOF: Excuses by The Morning Benders

The Morning Benders took inspiration from music producer/songwriter Phil Spector's "Wall of Sound," and applied it to this beautiful version of their 2010 hit "Excuses."

In this day and age when computer-generated music is prevalent and most musicians would use technology to emulate the sound of certain musical instruments, it is refreshing to see and hear a band who takes effort to play music the traditional way – that is, with, uh … real musical instruments.

Yours Truly, a group of creative folks whose passion is to document artists at work, tapped The Morning Benders for this Phil Spector “Wall of Sound”-inspired version of “Excuses,” a track from their 2010 album Big Echo. The “Wall of Sound” is a production technique that Phil Spector was famous for, in which he gathered groups of musicians to play the same parts in unison and recording the performance with the use of an echo chamber to create a lush, full sound.

For this special performance, the band collaborated with musician friends and the Echo Chamber Orchestra; the result is very heartwarming, melodic, and LSS-worthy. This video was filmed last year, but it never gets old.

The song is a classic – see for yourself and check out the video below!
